This page, and any pages it links to, explains The HEIW Y Ty Dysgu system terms of use. Before you use this site, you must agree to all points listed below.
2. Who we are
Health Education and Improvement Wales (HEIW) is dedicated to transforming the workforce for a healthier Wales. We are a Special Health Authority within NHS Wales and sit alongside Health Boards and Trusts.
We have a leading role in the education, training, development, and shaping of the healthcare workforce in Wales, to ensure high-quality care for the people of Wales.
One of the strategic objectives of Health Education and improvement Wales (HEIW) is to deliver a single learning management System.Y Ty Dysgu is a learning and event management system hosted by CDSM Interactive Solutions Ltd on behalf of HEIW. The system facilitates the delivery, monitoring and evaluation of educational resources and events developed by HEIW. Limited and specific access is also available for Health Boards and in Wales. The system holds information relating to HEIW, Health Board staff, and student users and their associated learners and event delegates.
3. Who can use Y Ty Dysgu
Y Ty Dysgu is available to anyone across Health and Social Care and will enable access to a wide range of useful training resources. Y Ty Dysgu accounts will enable Health and Social Care users to access closed networks and learning pathways. Account holders are also able to manage their own profile, bookmark resources, share content, participate in discussion threads and track their progress against various learning activities available on the site. There will be additional functionality available to leads who need to manage networks/ programmes, create events, host virtual classroom sessions, create, and publish resources and set up accounts for users within their organisation, programme or network.
4. Using Y Ty Dysgu
You must use it in a way that does not infringe the rights of, or restrict or inhibit the use and enjoyment of, this site by anyone else. Y Ty Dysgu is a system for learning and training.Y Ty Dysgu is a shared community and you will need to follow end user agreements when using the system. More detailed information on this is outlined below.We constantly adapt the system in line with feedback, quality assurance reviews and external bodies. We can, if required, change, or remove content at any time without notice.When accessing a network on Y Ty Dysgu, you need to be respectful towards other work shared by members and users. Under no circumstances should this be plagiarised or used as your own work.
Account holders are responsible for ensuring that their professional role is accurately described and that they only access education which is within their professional scope of practice.
5. Services and Data Use
You can use Y Ty Dysgu for a number of reasons associated with learning and training in Wales. We will provide you with access and use of the Service by creating an account if you meet the requirements set out in this agreement.
5.1 If you are an End User (Learner)
You must, at all times, comply with all applicable law, and you are responsible for ensuring that you do not, in using the Service, infringe or violate any other person’s intellectual property or privacy rights or misappropriate confidential information. You have a responsibility to ensure no information or content you upload is inappropriate or contains offensive/language/documentation.You represent to us that you are using the service for the purposes of Y Ty Dysgu or for the purpose of learning and training and/or the giving, receiving, or reading of professional resources.
5.2 If you are a Course Manager, Course Admin, Tutor or System Admin
You must, at all times, comply with all applicable law, and you are responsible for ensuring that you do not, in using the service, infringe or violate any other person’s intellectual property or privacy rights or misappropriate confidential information. You have a responsibility to ensure no information or content you upload is inappropriate or contains offensive/language/documentation.You represent to us that you are using the service for the purposes of Y Ty Dysgu or for the purpose of learning and training or the giving, receiving, or reading of professional resources.
5.3 Payments
Some products on the system require payment. Where this is the case, you will be prompted to pay upon joining the event. The Thinqi system utilises Shopify for to administer payments.
6. Linking from Y Ty Dysgu
Health Education and Improvement Wales is not responsible for the content or reliability of any linked websites, other than those under its direct control.
Where third party links are provided simply for information purposes, HEIW is not responsible for the upkeep of the content or any technical issues.
Where specific learning material is recommended, this is related to the content only and HEIW is not responsible for updates or technical issues.
We accept no liability in respect of the content or for the consequences of following any advice included on such sites.We cannot guarantee that links to websites outside of HEIW’s control will work all of the time and we have no control over the availability of the linked pages or change of website address.
Health Education and Improvement Wales reserves the right to reject or remove links to any website.

7. Using Y Ty Dysgu content
Where stated, content is subject to copyright protection. The website is subject to copyright and the contents shown should not be replicated in anyway.The personal information held within these sites is treated in accordance with General Data Protection Regulation. For the purposes of the regulation, Health Education & Improvement Wales is the Data Controller. Further information can be found on our Y Ty Dysgu privacy notice. 8. HALI AI-enabled chatbot
HALI is an AI-enabled chatbot, embedded in Y Ty Dysgu and powered by Amazon Bedrock (Claude LLM). It offers conversational explanations of how AI can be applied in different healthcare roles and includes reflective prompts to reinforce safe, critical engagement, giving users a safe place to learn AI. HALI is strictly educational; it gives no clinical instructions and is not intended to support diagnostic or therapeutic decisions. Chatbot conversations will not be subject to audit.
Outputs generated by all AI tools should be treated with caution and should not be relied upon as fully accurate, this includes Welsh language translation generated by HALI. An introductory safe use statement and disclaimer, which uses trusted HEIW sources and reminds users of its limitations, is presented to users before they engage with HALI. Users are warned not to paste confidential information such as personal or patient data or commercially / business sensitive information into queries or prompts, doing so could lead to unintended exposure or data breaches. Claude’s native guardrails are in place to protect against malicious prompts that try to bypass safety rules.
An evaluation mechanism is in place for users to provide feedback.

9. Security
You must not under any circumstances seek to undermine the security of Y Ty Dysgu or any information submitted to or available on the system. You must not introduce malware (including but not limited to viruses, worms, trojans, ransomware, logic bombs) or other material that is malicious or technologically harmful when using Y Ty Dysgu. You must not attempt to gain unauthorised access to Y Ty Dysgu or any of its components. You must not seek to access, modify, or delete any information to which you do not have authorised access. You must not attack Y Ty Dysgu in any way. This includes Denial-of-Service (DoS) attacks and Distributed Denial-of-Service attacks (DDoS).Any attacks or attempts or gain unauthorised access to Y Ty Dysgu will constitute a criminal offence under the Computer Misuse Act 1990. We will report any attacks or attempts to gain unauthorised access to Y Ty Dysgu to relevant law enforcement authorities and will co-operate fully with those authorities by disclosing your identity to them.
You must take all reasonable measures to protect your account details (user ID, Password, other security information):
· your account details must not be disclosed to any third-party;
· you must not share your account details with any third-party or allow your account details to be used by a third-party;
· never write down or otherwise record your account details in a way that can be understood by someone else;
· take care to ensure that no one hears or sees your account details when you use them;
· once you have logged on to the Y Ty Dysgu system, do not leave the device from which you have accessed it unattended or let anyone else use that device until you have logged off;
· change your password immediately and let us know as soon as possible if you know or suspect that someone else knows your details;
· when you create a password, avoid common or easily discoverable passwords. You should also avoid creating passwords using family names, pet names, sports teams, dates, common keyboard patterns, or passwords you have used elsewhere;
· use a long, unique and separate password for your Y Ty Dysgu account;
o weak and easy to guess passwords can be cracked in seconds
o create a password that is long, difficult to guess and unique
o combining 3 random words (use 3 random words as a minimum) that each mean something to you is a great way to create a password which is easy to remember for you but hard to guess and crack. You can use uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers and symbols if needed.
· you can enable multi-factor authentication on your account to add additional protection.
If you know or suspect that your Y Ty Dysgu account or password has been compromised, reset your password immediately and tell us without delay: here. If you cannot reset your password, please contact us immediately.
10. Termination and Removal of Accounts
HEIW reserves the right to terminate end user licences if the end user has not accessed their Y Ty Dysgu account over a period of 12 months. Inactive accounts will be reviewed in the context of frequency of access required for professional training. For those users who are required to reaccredit over a longer period of time, accounts will be preserved.
